Academic Research Program (ARP)
Our Academic Research Program (ARP) is a waiver initiative designed to support researchers who cannot access Premium features but require additional private space while preparing methods they intend to publish upon completion.
protocols.io is free to read and free to publish for public knowledge. However, we recognise that some users need to develop methods privately before publication. All users can create up to two private protocols at no cost. If additional private protocol space is required, you can apply to see whether you qualify for our ARP.
The waiver program is intended for individuals and research groups working at the cutting edge of science who may need financial assistance. Researchers from low‑ and middle‑income Group A countries, as classified by Research4Life, automatically qualify for Premium access (see: https://www.protocols.io/organizations/research4life). All other applicants will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.
To apply for a waiver, please complete the application form. We will review all submissions and may follow up if additional information is required before making a decision.
